Castle Cake

Not a bento, but definitely still food. This is a cake i made for my english class after we read Frankenstein. It is a three tier chocolate cake with grey icing, chocolate doors, graves, and fruit leather stained glass windows. One of the coolest cakes i've ever made!

Totoro Love

Who wouldn't love this adorable little guy? It took me forever to actually eat him. I found this tutorial for totoro on AnnaTheRedBento Factory, i absolutely love her site and wish i could've made my sandwich half as nice as hers! It is a peanut butter and honey sandwich on wheat bread. With celery and carrot sticks, clementines and red pepper. So adorably delicious!

Sushi Love

So i decided to try some sushi! Of course it is all vegetarian, so its just a cucumber carrot roll, and its not very tight at that. If anybody has any pointers about how to roll sushi please comment!! Also recipes would be appreciated! On the top tier i have peaches and below the sushi is some celery. Yum!

More Valentines day Love

I have to say I'm quite proud of this bento!! It is just simply rice, shaped into hearts with the cookie cutters my boyfriend got me for valentines day <3!, and broccoli with carrot flowers in the bottom tier, carrot sticks with cheese flowers and grapes in the top tier. Some bentos i kinda feel sad about eating, this was one of them. it was just so cute! but so delicious, and of course healthy as always!

Valentine's Love

This is one of my favorite bentos i have made so far! Heart shaped rice with nori, broccoli with carrot flowers, a mini muffin with a piggy face and strawberries with heart shaped kiwi!! Since i had no school last week i didn't have the chance to make valentines day bentos so this week will, hopefully, be all love!

More Soba Love

Yet another soba noodle bento (okay, so I made a huge batch of them, and i can't let them go to waste!) I thought to make it a bit more pretty i would add some flowers with my new cookie cutters i got! I got them at a cooking supply store in the strip district. If you're near Pittsburgh and love markets and stuff, you HAVE to go to the strip district. It is amazing, i felt like a kid in the candy store there, especially in the Japanese market and Tea shop. Back to the bento, I have my normal soba noodle salad with some carrots (of course) and peaches. If anybody knows how to slice up carrots so they look more appealing than just sticks tell me!!!

Falafel Love

I decided to have something new for lunch..the answer: falafel!! If you've never had this middle easter treat your missing out!! These little chickpea nuggets from heaven are set on a carrot that i cut up (I'm still in love with these carrots, I'm not orange though...yet) and a little bit of broccoli. On the top tier I have some sliced peach..my favorite fruit. This is a relatively healthy lunch since instead of frying the falafel i baked it. This only affects the flavor slightly, but the fried ones are amazing.

Soba Noodle Love

I made soba noodles! I've never tried them before, they seemed a little daunting being made out of buckwheat, but they taste the same! These I mixed with a little bit of soy sauce and sesame oil, they turned out great! Make sure to go really light on sesame oil a little bit goes a long long way. Along with this I put in some snow peas and left over sweet potato, which surprisingly are great cold. On the top tier I have a clementine and some blueberries! The star is made out of low-fat cheese. Not exactly vegan after that, but still vegetarian!

Sandwich Bento

In this bento i decided to go back to the basics of childhood and have a nice pb&j sandwich. Of course what looks better on a peanut butter sandwich than hearts??? I've also been in a carrot mood lately, i've been eating at least one medium sized carrot a day. I hope i don't turn orange! Along with carrots and my pb&j i also have some cantaloupe and cherry tomatos (those are really just fillers) This is, once again, a fairly healthy bento and soooo easy to make but still keep it cute!

Simple Lunch Bento

This is one of my really simple bentos made in about 10 minutes in the morning. My favorite foods are the most simple and rice just tastes so good. It consists of brown rice, steamed broccoli, strawberries and stars made out of bell pepper. It was about 200 calories and incredibly filling because of the brown rice. A great day-after bento.
